Immerse yourself in regional experiences

McLaren Vale McLaren Vale offers immersive and interactive tourism experiences for visitors. Here's a small list of what is on offer in the region:

The d'Arenberg Cube: Choose your own adventure and blend the traditional cellar door visit with exciting discovery, art and family history; tour the Dali exhibition, blend and bottle your own wine or indulge in a degustation at d'Arry's Verandah restaurant

Gemtree Wines: Located at the tasting room is the Gemtree Biodynamic Hut, an informal interactive experience provides visitors with a deeper understanding of biodynamic viticulture. Adjacent to the tasting room is the 1km Gemtree Ecotrail, a meandering path through 10 hectares of regenerated natural bush land, offering visitors a connection to the surrounding land that inspires Gemtree's gilding philosophies. Visitors to Gemtree Wines can choose from several experiences that deliver a perfect blend of nature, food and wine.

Settlers Spirits: Settlers Spirits Distillery Door is home to many delicious experiences that you can enjoy, including Settlers Gin Blending Masterclass, where you become a distiller for the day. Create your own gin recipes and then bottle your favourite blend to take home.

Maxwell Wines: Embark on a behind the scenes tour of the winery with an exclusive private tasting experience and discover more about the fascinating history and heritage of Maxwell. Visitors have an opportunity to taste wine directly from the barrel to compare the oaks they are maturing in - just like a winemaker.

SloWhey School of Cheese: SloWhey is a project founded on goals of education in and celebration of sustainable cheesemaking and a slower way of living. The intimate workshop style classes involve a guided milk to mould process with each session focusing on producing several different cheeses. Spend the day slowing down, making cheese, laughing and learning.

Earth Adventure: Earth Adventure offer rock climbing experiences in the Onkaparinga Gorge National Park. A rugged location featuring a gorge with cliffs up to 30 metres high and large permanent rock pools, Onkaparinga River National Park provides ample opportunities for rock climbing. You’ll be among native wildlife such as birds, koalas, kangaroos and possums – you may even spot an echidna. Earth Adventure’s experienced guides will teach you how to enjoy your time on the cliff.

Tipsy Hill Estate: Tipsy Hill Estate Garden tours offers one of the most stunning locations in the McLaren Vale wine region. The garden, surrounded by vineyards on all sides, is beautifully terraced with a real sense of the Mediterranean. Imaginative plantings and the bold use of colour, set against the cobalt blue skies of McLaren Vale, means the garden looks beautiful all year around, perfectly framing those 360-degree views.

The Woodstock Wildlife Sanctuary: The Woodstock Wildlife Sanctuary is approximately three hectares of natural scrub conserved to showcase some Australian native animals. Visitors to Woodstock can experience a unique and truly Australian encounter with the animals in the Sanctuary at our daily supervised feeding session. Dusty, Maverick and the crew love these as much as you will.
