What's Happening in the Vineyards - June 2020

The cooler weather of Autumn and impending Winter has brought much wanted soaking rains to McLaren Vale. Vines enter 'dormancy' in this period, which is the perfect time to begin pruning.

As you drive around the region you will see these sleeping vines as they take time out during winter for a much needed rest before the warmer weather of spring. Some vineyards will also introduce sheep to help control the weeds. This preparation sets up the vines for the next vintage as it determines how the vines will grow.
