McLaren Vale Cellar Door Tree Trail
Trees are the biggest plants on our planet and there are many reasons why they are important to us and our wellbeing. Trees give us oxygen, they absorb carbon dioxide and other harmful gases, they lower temperatures by providing shade and they can reduce soil erosion. Trees also provide valuable food and habitat for wildlife including birds, reptiles mammals and insects.
There are a number of significant trees in our region that have been recognised on the new McLaren Vale Cellar Door Tree Trail. Fourteen of our cellar doors worked with Willunga Environment Centre to identify and measure significant trees on their properties. Each tree bears a tag that shows the age and height of the tree as well as the importance of the tree in relation to climate control evidence and other biodiversity factors.
Add the McLaren Vale Cellar Door Tree Trail to your list of things to do next time you are in the region and enjoy the beauty of wine and nature.
