Without a doubt, wine dogs are the heart and soul of our wineries, but did you know that many cellar doors in our region also welcome 4-legged friends with their “pawrents”? We have curated a nose-to-tail list of dog-friendly cellar doors to help plan your next visit to McLaren Vale.

Dog Ridge, aptly named, is home to wine dogs Ralphy and Ringo, who happily welcome visiting dogs to their cellar door. You can even book in to make your own custom wine label as a tribute to your best friend.

Only a short trip up the road is Shottesbrooke Wines. Book into their adjacent pet-friendly accommodation at McLaren Vale Getaways and you and your dog can make a weekend of it.

While in the region, call into Kay Brothers Winery where visiting dogs are treated to biscuits from the iconic ceramic dog biscuit barrel. At Mollydooker Wines, snap an Instagram-worthy photo of your pooch on the famous Mollydooker truck and at Chapel Hill, relax in the atrium with a glass of wine for you and some cold water for your friend.

Other cellar doors that love having dogs visit include Paxtons, Serafino, Shingleback Wine, Bondar Wines and Pertaringa.

Of course, always keep in mind good dog “pawtiquette” when visiting cellar doors. Ensure your dog is on a lead, is well behaved and you have dog bags on hand for when nature calls.

Enjoy your visit and be sure to tag any photos of you and your pooch enjoying McLaren Vale with #mvwinedogs.
