Self-taught Scottish artist Lainy Feeney started painting a mere two years ago and has had an incredibly successful run. Her work is included in a range of notable collections, both near and far. Lainy draws her influences from her experiences of playing principal roles in theatre where she honed her skills in acting and singing. Her love of music has had an instrumental role in her practice. Lainy feels a deep connection to music within her paintings, consistently endeavouring to create harmonic depth and balance in them. “Like the most beautiful musical composition, I paint unity, rhythm and movement.”
Lainy’s process also includes a period of deep thinking before she even picks up her brush. “My thoughts and the music guide me through artistic intentions through colour choice and shapes.” This enables the paintings to take form and composition spontaneously. “I love creating and I feel I have found the creative art spirit in me.”
Lainy is thrilled to present her first solo exhibition which boldly draws on the synchronistic relationship between music and image. ‘Funk Fusion’ will be playing some retro funk and disco tracks at the opening event.
