Coast & Co is a new tourism venture on the Fleurieu that mixes 4WD, hiking, luxury accommodation and e-biking, in a mission to help visitors discover the soul of the region.

Partnering with Primo Estate, we are just about to launch 8 spectacular new electric mountain bikes, giving visitors to the region an easy way to cruise along the Shiraz Trail and visit Cellar Doors in style. Coast & Co is looking for a casual to manage the E-Bike operation around 20 hours per week, with the opportunity to grow. Responsibilities include preparing bikes for hire and tours, briefing and training customers on the e-bikes, taking customers on guided tours of the Shiraz Trail, plus setting up and down at the end of each day. Role will require someone with an interest in wine and tourism, knowledge of and ability to engage people in the region, plus a good level of outdoor fitness. An understanding of social media and ability to promote the tours will also be advantageous. Will suit someone with cellar door, hospitality and/ or tourism experience. Role has potential to grow.

Dispatch / Admin Support

Main duties and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Supervise loading of outgoing/incoming pallets of wine and dry goods
  • Maintain thorough records of goods received and dispatched
  • Invoicing
  • Record and reconcile stock movements
  • Maintain pallet tracking records
  • Provide support with our record management and filing system
  • Payroll support
  • Monitor MSDS records for currency
  • Provide admin support to the Operations Manager and customer service team
  • General administrative and clerical support

We are looking for someone who has / is:

  • Previous experience with stock movement record keeping
  • High level of attention to detail
  • A whizz with numbers
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Experience in the wine industry
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a deadline driven environment

Vineyard Operator/Supervisor

Paxton are seeking an experienced Vineyard Operator/Supervisor to support the Vineyard Manager to ensure efficient upkeep and maintenance across multiple vineyard sites.   

About the Company

Established in 1979, over the last four decades, Paxton has nurtured and developed their family estate vineyards in the world-renowned wine growing region of McLaren Vale in South Australia. Paxton manage 480 acres across 8 vineyard sites. Paxton managed vineyards supply super premium grapes for the Paxton Wines brand and also to numerous recognised Australian wineries. 

Role Overview

This salaried role will be reporting to the Vineyard Manager and will be responsible for staff supervision and organisation of daily work plans in conjunction with the Vineyard Manager. The successful applicant will be vital in ongoing vineyard improvements, maintenance and operational efficiencies.

About the Person

To be successful in this position you will bring proven experience in a similar role as well as a hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated attitude. You will be working daily in the field, with the ability to work independently and have excellent communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operation of vineyard machinery, such as tractors, fungicide units and harvesters
  • Hands on vineyard responsibilities such as: pruning, training and irrigation    
  • Upgrading vineyards and reconstruction pruning
  • Maintain and encourage best practice WHS
  • Supervision and upkeep of communication with full time employees and contractors

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

  • Proven experience working in a similar role
  • A formal qualification in viticulture is favorable but not necessary
  • An interest and willingness to learn about bio-dynamics is vital
  • Pest Technician License desirable
  • Forklift License desirable
  • Drivers license essential

The McLaren Vale Grape Wine & Tourism Association is the peak representative body for all grape-growers, wine producers and tourism providers in one of Australia’s most valuable wine tourism regions – a combined representation of more than 550 businesses and over $500m in immediate farm-gate value.

The Association provides the major industries of the McLaren Vale region – wine, food and tourism – with a vision for the future in both domestic and international markets. The Association plays a fundamental role in securing the region’s economic and environmental sustainability.

This pivotal role requires a marketing graduate to assist the Marketing and Communications Manager and small MVGWTA team in executing the Association’s strategic plan for ‘brand McLaren Vale’.

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, this part-time, maternity leave replacement will involve all aspects of strategic marketing and communications.

Responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in enhancing the national and international value of ‘brand McLaren Vale’ by supporting the Marketing & Communications Manager to implement various marketing and communications programs, events and activities
  • Provide effective, efficient and accurate administration of MVGWTA digital channels and assets, including management and maintenance of database management systems, CMS and social media
  • Provide effective, efficient and accurate administration of MVGWTA Visiting Identities Program (in-bound trade marketing visits) with key stakeholders including (but not limited to) Wine Australia and the Great Wine Capitals of the World Network partners, as well as Member businesses and visit providers
  • Build and reinforce ‘brand McLaren Vale’ by assisting with the implementation of marketing and communications campaigns that enhance the value of the region as both a tourism destination (consumer) and producer of fine wines (trade).

The successful candidate will possess the following qualities and experience:

  • A positive team player with a collaborative and easy manner
  • Excellent communication skills required to represent the Association and Brand McLaren Vale appropriately to all MVGWTA stakeholders
  • Exceptional time management skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving orientated
  • Assumes responsibility for work outputs as a collective team, not as an individual
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a marketing/communications related role
  • Demonstrated track record of efficient, effective and timely communications management
  • Demonstrated experience in management of multi-channel social media platforms
  • Knowledge of online database management systems and integrated EDM software
  • Experience and ability to create, design, and produce marketing campaigns including promotional activity implementation, print production, website maintenance, copywriting.
  • Graphic design experience (Adobe creative suite) - desirable, but not essential

This role will be appointed as 6-month contract initially, beginning Monday 2nd September 2019 and concluding Thursday 27th February 2020, but may be extended pending return of existing contracted Marketing Coordinator

Ideally, the successful candidate will be available from early August, one to two days per week, to begin an introduction and handover with the existing Marketing Coordinator

This role is located in McLaren Vale; some intra and interstate travel may be required. A valid driver’s licence is required to fulfil this role.
