The Winegrowing Company

The Seppeltsfield Group recently purchased the Ryecroft Winery site in McLaren Flat. We are now looking for a variety of experienced wine industry team members to join our new winemaking team for the 2018 Vintage season. 
The positions are primarily casual for vintage but some may commence earlier or may transition into ongoing full time or part time roles. 

Successful applicants will possess industry experience and be able to contribute to a small, passionate, hardworking and successful team. They will also require flexibility, ability to work independently and in a team environment with utmost commitment to quality, food safety, risk management, WH&S and environmental systems. Must possess Australian citizenship/residency or a valid existing Australian work visa. Remuneration will be commensurate with experience.

Cellar Door & Functions Manager (full-time)

Paxton Wines is located at the gateway to McLaren Vale, and is proud to be family owned and operated.  We are a passionate premium wine producer, certified both organic and biodynamic.  With a busy cellar door and a full calendar of weddings and functions, we are currently looking to appoint an experienced Cellar Door & Functions Manager to join our growing team.

The Cellar Door & Functions Manager is an integral part of the Paxton team. Managing the ongoing growth of the cellar door and a full season of weddings/functions to the highest standard is the number one priority. A real drive for direct-to-consumer sales is a must.  

Collectively we have lots of ideas and exciting projects on-the-go, we need someone to help manage these projects, and come armed with ideas of their own.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Previous experience managing a team in hospitality or the wine industry
  • Advanced wine knowledge and the ability to take on board and believe in our brand; embracing the principles of organics / biodynamics
  • Great communication skills; must possess both an enthusiasm for cellar door sales, and take pride in how Paxton Wines are presented to our customers
  • Proficient in a number of technologies, including but not limited to; POS, Excel, Word processing, data capture and analysis
  • Function and event co-ordination experience


The Cellar Door & Functions Manager is responsible for maintaining a high standard of presentation and customer service at cellar door, as well as overseeing all wedding and function bookings and administration. The role involves handling all operational elements of the cellar door, including:

  • Working closely with Sales & Marketing to drive database growth, wine sales, club memberships and create unique offerings
  • Achieving sales targets and other KPIs
  • Management of domestic dispatch
  • Staff rostering
  • Training and staff development
  • Weekly and monthly reporting
  • Inventory and stock control management
  • Database management
  • Participation in direct-to-consumer strategies
  • Budgeting
  • Conducting tastings and customer engagement
  • Corresponding with wine club members as necessary

This is a full-time roll and will evolve with the business.  Availability on weekends is a necessity.

Ambassador and Beverage Attendants are responsible for keeping track of stock, presenting wine tastings, cleaning, customer service, function preparation, serving food and general administration.

This position would suit you if you are currently working in hospitality or have prior cellar door experience, studying tourism, hospitality or marketing and are looking to further develop your career. The role will enable you to gain further knowledge and experience.

To be successful in this position you will hold a current RSA Certificate, have a high standard of personal presentation and be available to work weekends along with some mid-week shifts as required to cover group booking or events. Previous experience in a cellar door or hospitality and event organisation will be considered an advantage.

As we are now heading into the Summer season, The Salopian Inn is looking for an experienced and passionate individual to join our team as a Casual Waiter.

• Packing and dispatch of wine parcels.

Key Requirements

Maxwell Wines has been producing McLaren Vale wines and meads since 1979, annual production round 400 tones. With a cellar door and restaurant in the heart of McLaren Vale, the presentation of the gardens and grounds is of high importance.

The position will be versatile, working on various areas: the maze, ground keeping, growing vegies/herbs for the kitchen and even growing mushrooms. Experience and knowledge in gardening will be advantageous, and some learning on the job is expected.
