Oliver’s Taranga in McLaren Vale are looking for a Warehouse Fulfilment Officer for our busy wine warehouse.

Red Poles is seeking a highly motivated, energetic Sous Chef with extensive experience to join our dynamic hardworking team in our busy restaurant.                                                                                                

We pride ourselves on offering a fresh, seasonal menu with a strong focus on regional and locally sourced ingredients. 

Lunch service only with occasional evening functions.

Main duties include:                                                            

  • traditional cooking duties                                 
  • making and developing food from scratch
  • menu development
  • oversee kitchen operations reporting directly to the Head Chef 
  • supervise and train junior staff
  • deliver to our customer’s high expectations
  •  monitor costs with special regard to portion control, waste minimisation and stock control 
  • adhering to all relevant health, safety and food safety standards

To be considered for the position you will have:

  • previous experience in a similar role working in a commercial kitchen  (minimum 4 years)
  • ability to work in all sections of the kitchen: pans, grill, cold larder, desserts
  • ability to stay calm and focused whilst working with high pressure workloads and tight deadlines 
  • strong a la carte experience
  • demonstrate initiative and innovative thinking, superior organisational communication and planning skills        
  • solid knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation 
  • strong attention to detail
  • ability to mentor and guide junior members   
  • ability to assist the Head Chef in the day to day running of the kitchen
  • ability to control the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef  
  • posess a positive and professional attitude

Casual, 2-3 days a week (with a potential for more hours during harvest).

  • Olive sorting prior to packing
  • Packing into Jars, buckets, cryvac packs

  • General duties including cleaning
  • Olive processing
  • Harvesting
  • Olive sorting post-harvest
  • Simple pump operation
  • Quality control
  • Brining
  • pH adjustment
  • Olive washing
  • General olive tree care including pruning, removal of water shoots etc

Forklift licence and advantage but not essential
