Mollydooker Wines, McLaren Vale, South Australia is looking for someone with a positive attitude to join us as Casual Laboratory Technician/Cellar Hand for Vintage 2020.

This role involves conducting daily juice and wine analysis as well as working hands-on in the winery cellar.

Previous Laboratory experience is required, and previous Winery experience is preferred but not essential as training in all Mollydooker systems will be provided.

The position will commence 17th February 2020 and will continue until vintage completion (estimated to be late April possibly early May).

The successful candidate will be available to work both days and nights on a 2 week rotating roster and be prepared to work weekends and public holidays as required.

Leconfield is a long established family-owned winery producing premium wines in McLaren Vale and Coonawarra.  An opportunity has arisen for a well presented and enthusiastic person to join our McLaren Vale Cellar Door Team.  The position is on a casual basis, mainly on weekends, although additional week day hours may also be available during our busy times and at our various functions and events, including Sea & Vines, Syn at Sunset and A Day on the Green.

Reporting to the Cellar Door Manager, you will be responsible for:

Beresford Estate Wines produce our premium McLaren Vale red, white, sparkling, fortified and rose wines at The Step Road winery in Langhorne Creek. We are currently looking for 2020 Vintage Cellar Hands starting late February and proceeding through to April/May or sometimes later. The opportunity exists for people based on the Fleurieu Peninsula to be a part of McLaren Vale winemaking and vintage operations, at the 2,000T Langhorne Creek winery.

You will have the opportunity to be exposed to a wide range of wine production methods as part of a small team,  from bulk processing in 15-30 tonne roto fermenters and 10 tonne static open fermenters, to smaller premium 2 tonne and 5 tonne open fermenters for our small batch Blewitt Springs Estate fruit, spirit fortification for fortified wine base, sparkling wine base production, apple cider and more.

Daily tasks may include:

  • Crusher operation
  • Wine, juice and must transfers
  • Drain and returns
  • Winery and tank cleaning and sanitation
  • Yeast propagation and inoculation
  • Open fermenter management
  • Pump overs
  • Tank additions
  • Wine analysis
  • Barrel work
  • Along with various other tasks as required. A Confined Space certificate will be offered for most new employees in late February (at no cost).

We offer good exposure to many wine production methods, styles and products . Vintage commences with brief induction in late February 2019 and ends around May,  with ongoing work possible for the right candidates and flexibility for Waite campus students returning to study earlier. All cellar hands are expected to be available for day and afternoon shift work plus weekend day shifts during vintage. All penalty rates will apply.

The Step Rd. Winery. Davidson Road, Langhorne Creek.

Oxenberry is looking for an enthusiastic wine professional to join our cellar door team, offering informative and educational wine tastings and sales assistance to the public.

This position is customer focused, the successful candidate will be pouring tastings for individuals and groups that can sometimes exceed 20 people.

Past experience in the wine industry in a cellar door is essential, however the successful candidate must have strong communication skills and a passion for wine and hospitality.

The successful candidate must also be a self-starter, with a confident and positive outlook.This position is casual and will be predominantly weekends work.

Skills and experience

Successful candidates for this role will possess:

  • MUST hold a current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate

ABOUT

Ryecroft Wines, Established in 1888, has a number of open casual positions for vintage 2020 in cellar and laboratory roles. We are looking for hard working people who love working vintage, making a range of wines from super premium to commercial.

Positions will commence at the start of February for a period of 8 > 12 weeks, dependent upon vintage conditions, working up to 12 hr shifts 6 days per week.

The winery is located centrally in the beautiful McLaren Vale region renowned for world class Shiraz, Grenache & Cabernet Sauvignon with beautiful beaches and the city of Adelaide in close proximity to the winery.

Ryecroft is part of the Randall Wine Group and together with Tinlins & Seppeltsfield, focus on premium wines for the Australian and World markets.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A strong work ethic and a willingness to get stuck in is required, you will have had previous winery experience during vintage. The ability to work in a safety focused environment as a team member in a diverse cellar crew made up of local and international team members is a must. It is essential you can follow instructions both verbally and written and, as the winery works 24 hrs / 7 days during the harvest period, have a good degree of physical fitness and a willingness to work shift work if required.

A forklift license is highly desirable and a dedicated training program for Ryecroft will be provided at the start of vintage.

Well established Winemaking company Dowie Doole Wines in the McLaren Vale District is looking for the services of two vintage cellarhands grade 2 or 3.

Hours will be 4 to 8 hours per day for one position and 7 to 12 hours for the second.

Work will include all vintage crush and processing operations, general wine transfers and barrel handling. 

Employment is from February to April 2019.  Both positions are hands-on roles and involve flexibility in work type and hours.  Some weekend and overtime work may be required.

The prospect of continuing work after vintage is a possibility.

Bustling McLaren Vale taphouse, Swell Brewing Co, are seeking an experienced Head Chef to join our growing business.

Reporting to the owner, we are looking for a Head Chef who loves craft beer and creating food that goes with craft beer. Basically, a burger/wings/tex mex fanatic.

You will be responsible for everything kitchen related, right through from menu conception to staffing. You will have more than 3 years experience in a leadership role, and a passion to overdeliver for our customers.

  • Key responsibilities include:
  • Hands on position leading the kitchen team.
  • Updating and creating menu items.
  • Maintaining and fostering a great team environment and culture, both within the kitchen and front-of-house.

MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Packing, sending and delivering of wine orders
    • Direct to customer via courier/post (inc personal note)
    • Arranging pallet deliveries via transport companies (Distributors/Export/ex bottling/etc)
    • Delivery to local restaurants
  • Monitoring stock levels and bottling of fortified wines and produce (olive oil/vinegar) when required
  • Maintain high housekeeping standards for barrel shed and packing station
  • Updates on space availability in the warehouse so as to limit external storage
  • Provide suggestions for improvements in warehouse processes or systems
  • Monthly stocktake of short-term warehouses (Barrel shed, Cellar door)
  • Management of museum wine storage with a yearly stocktake of museum warehouse
  • Monitoring secondary packaging products and reordering with Sally
  • Replenishing Cellar door with stock and packaging when required
  • Organization of wine recycling pickups 
  • Arranging export documentation, applying for CAA and VI1 approvals as soon as new wine stock received
  • Organising any dry goods, pallets etc to be delivered and picked up when complete (Coordinate with Corrina)
  • Reordering of forklift gas bottles (Elgas SOP online)
  • Cleaning cardboard recycling machine monthly
