A historic Australian Winery dating back to 1892, giving a view into the wine industry from well over 100 years ago. Where is many wineries are shiny and new, Pirramimma offers a glimpse into the past, with over 100 acres of surrounding estate vineyards and the historic Pirramimma Homestead, built in 1901 by founder AC Johnston. The winery is still family owned by 3rd generation Geoff Johnston, and is the second oldest winery in McLaren Vale. The wine style, behind the hallmark varietals of Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Chardonnay, as well as newer varietals as Petit Verdot and Tannat, are described as generous, full bodies, varietal and elegant. The fortified collection is extremely rare and old, forming another important piece of the Pirramimma story.
