Hardys Scrub Hike

Wander through this forest on walking trails and fire tracks. The grey box eucalyptus woodlands here once covered much of the western slopes of the southern Adelaide Hills, and very little has survived clearing for agriculture and urban development. Other vegetation communities here include pink gums in the sandy areas, and southern
cypress pine.

Begin the walk from the main trailhead at Gate 16 on Chapel Hill Road, there is carparking here for 3-4 cars, a railhead information board and a picnic table. The trail is well marked walking in a clockwise direction. There is a 1.3km alternate route near the start, following a narrow walking trail, we recommend this extra eastern trail as especially delightful to walk through. Although the start and end of the alternate route is well-marked, keep a watch out for older style smaller arrow posts to guide you.
