The General, cellar door and home to Zonte’s Footstep wines is a beautifully appointed space in McLaren Flat, with exposed brick and beams, beautiful Oregon bars, and leather bench seating. The General displays artwork by the artist behind Zonte’s Footstep’s labels, Bianca Smith.
Bianca (affectionately known as Bi), participated in several group exhibitions and has been a finalist in the Emma Hack Art Prize. Her art work always addresses the empowerment of women – almost a goddess status. Bringing together her love of theatre/ballet she tries to capture the strength and beauty of her characters in an almost theatrical way. She takes inspiration from the novels that she reads featuring female heroines as well as the inspiriting women that she meets. Her use of dramatic light and beautiful models assists in portraying the strength and resilience of women.
After discussing the vision and direction of Zonte’s Footstep’s labels, Bianca was then able to illustrate perfectly what each of the wines represented. The original artworks for these labels are on display on the walls in The General home of Zonte’s Footstep.
