Butter Factory Shiraz
Overview
Welcome to the Old Butter Factory vineyard based in the heart of Whites Valley, southern McLaren Vale. Circa 1890 the creamery was established to service the Willunga, Aldinga and McLaren Vale area of premium butter, and milk cream. The factory ran for around 60 years until World War Two broke out. Three families have lived in it since Patrick and Lorraine Neville purchased the property from the Holts in 1999. That year, Patrick and their son, Ben planted 1.2 acres of Shiraz (BV12 clone) and now produces around 160 cases per year.
The family love being part of the McLaren Vale wine community, hand pick the fruit every year with a team mixed of family, friends, locals and travellers who are treated to a long lunch once the final bunch is picked. Ben's fianće, Imogen Czulowski is one of South Australia's top chefs and cooks up a beautiful lunch celebrating everything wine and using fresh produce from the property's own kitchen garden.
Ben also runs a four by four touring business 'Off Piste 4WD Tours' so make to look it up and book a tour to fully experience the wonderful offerings the family offer to keen food and wine lovers.
