Cadenzia Cadenzia is made in celebration of the winemakers opportunity, after vintage, to blend an exceptional McLaren Vale wine around the Grenache variety. The term Cadenzia comes from the musical term Cadenza, meaning an outstanding virtuoso improvisation, performed by the chief soloist or as we like to call it - jamming! “Grenache has been a major variety in McLaren Vale since grapes were first planted here in the 1850’s. There is a huge resource of mostly dry grown old bush vines and according to most journalists, it is the premier suited site in Australia. McLaren Vale produces powerful fragrant, structured Grenaches built to age.” says d’Arenberg Winemaker Chester Osborn.
Each year the Cadenzia project celebrates the quality and diversity of McLaren Vale Grenache by inviting wine makers to improvise and experiment with this variety to create unique wines.
This year d'Arenberg, Tapestry, Yangarra, Gemtree and DogRidge have produced Cadenzia's. Each is their own expression of Grenache and the uniqueness of McLaren Vale.
